The origin of Hypertongue goes way back to early 2003 in a small town in Michigan – Steve (vocals/guitar) and Matt (bass) were together fine tuning their craft until Hypertongue was formed. Through the years, they played up and down southern Michigan sharing the stage with many alternative metal bands giving them the opportunity to play and network with many other musicians. More years went by, with the band gathering material and in 2007 Dale joined the band on drums making everything complete. Hypertongue’s diverse grunge metal offering shows off a melodic side mixed in with their heavy sound. Sounding raw, increasingly instinctive their songs are especially crushing when performed on stage. The songs are written and presented with a familiar fire but also at the same time with absolutely addictive harmonies. The combination of Steve, Matt and Dale works, and it gives Hypertongue the unique edge that defines the band’s sound. Original songs like Live and Learn, Write my Wrongs and Damn Nation come across as coarse and loud but with a certain flare that draws you into the immersive sound.
